@mitchellfink yes, but I believe some actors chose to think of all 2nd jobs as soul sucking... that's a recipe for self created misery.

@MusicLoveSex Just learning as much as you can about the business before you get here will help u hit the ground running
11:04 PM Nov 22 by @TalentAgentLA
@MusicLoveSex not really. What you CAN do is start reading books on the business of acting from Amazon. Judy Kerr writes a good one.

Finding that support job that u can stand- & being ok you have one- is as important as studying your craft IMO. Be kind 2 urself. (3/3)

HOWEVER, during those 10 years, he could certainly claim he was a working actor. Point: Working actors almost always need 2nd jobs. (2/3)

Was reading a bit about Mark Ruffalo. Some know he was a bartender for 10 years/800 auditions before he broke through...(1/3)

Thanksgiving only means people aren't working Thursday. Tons of auditions going on right now and early next week. Did u book out?

The 1st couple hours can feel like you are on a treadmill. Needless to say, it's normally not the best time to call to speak to your agent.

1st thing in the AM, I am getting notices of who canceled & I begin pitching replacements, going through 100 emails, and new breakdowns...
12:43 PM Nov 20 by @TalentAgentLA
@AmyHarber well that's just it. Not to say student projects are bad, but if your ratio is 90%, I know we aren't talking guest stars.
2:56 PM Nov 18 by @TalentAgentLA
-@ActorwithaChip In that case u would say just that. NOT "I have a 75% booking ratio". (?- What if booked 3 out of 4 comm auditions?)
2:44 PM Nov 18 by @TalentAgentLA
BTW- I said this to save you from making a very common cover letter and interview error. NOT to disparage any work you may book. :)
2:16 PM Nov 18 by @TalentAgentLA
Know what reasonable numbers are. Our biggest bookers commercially do not even get callbacks every time--50% is impressive callback ratio.
2:11 PM Nov 18 by @TalentAgentLA
U say "I've booked 90% of the jobs I've auditioned for", u think good right? We think "u must be going out for crap". No1 books that much.
2:07 PM Nov 18 by @TalentAgentLA
Commercial agents (feel free to correct me other agents) don't send out booking emails. That's a theatrical agent thing. Don't ask.
3:39 PM Nov 17 by @TalentAgentLA
@AmyHarber if an c.d. is contacting you directly because you don't have an agent then yes of course you can respond!
3:14 PM Nov 17 by @TalentAgentLA
@Sunil_aka_Sunny there is no freelancing in LA. If you have a comm agent, anything that falls under the commercial world goes through agent
